Destination Discovery: Algarve Adventure

Recently, Chloe from our Milton Keynes branch jetted off to the sunny Algarve to get a closer look at some of the region’s best hotels, activities, and hidden gems to bring back her top recommendations just for you.

Here’s what Chloe got up to ...

Day 1: A Warm Algarve Welcome:

After an early morning flight from Birmingham, the aim was to maximise the day with hotel visits and explore the Algarve. The weather was warm, setting the perfect tone for a packed itinerary filled with hotel inspections and cultural experiences.

Day 2: Family Favourites & Local Traditions

The day began with a visit to the Alvor Baia — a Jet2holidays Family Favourite. This modern, spacious hotel is perfect for families thanks to its generous room sizes and impressive list of sports facilities, including Astroturf pitches, paddle courts and even a gym where Cristiano Ronaldo is rumoured to train occasionally!

Next up was the Tivoli Alvor Resort, another fantastic family-focused hotel. With adult-only and children’s pools, a dynamic entertainment schedule and a well-equipped kids’ club, it's designed for both fun and relaxation. The hotel’s buffet lunch showcased a wide variety of dishes, ideal for even the fussiest eaters.

From there, the pace shifted as we were whisked away on a Jeep Safari through the countryside. This off-road adventure revealed the rich agricultural heritage of the region — from the citrus groves to the Medronho tree, known for producing the potent local spirit ‘Fire Water’. A visit to Paderne Castle and a stop at a 24/7 local bakery (with croissants as big as your arm!) rounded off an unforgettable experience.

In the evening, we explored Eden Villas & Apartments, another Jet2holidays Family Favourite located just outside Albufeira. The property blends convenience with tranquillity and offers complimentary shuttles to the beach and town centre. After an insightful hotel tour and delicious Asian A La Carte dinner, we were treated to an incredible circus-themed show that delighted both adults and children.

Day 3: Style, Shopping & Scenic Old Town

Our final full day began with a visit to the elegant Jupiter Albufeira Hotel — part of Jet2’s Luxe Collection. This stunning hotel boasts a splash park, spa centre, multiple pools, and fine dining options. The rooms are airy, stylish, and ideal for families.

Later, we took a stroll to the lively Albufeira Strip, just a 20-minute walk from the Jupiter, followed by a peaceful afternoon in Albufeira Old Town. With its cobbled streets, beachfront promenade and charming cafés, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone exploring the region.

The day concluded with a final visit to the Patio Suite Hotel, a chic and modern sister property to the Eden Villas. While it’s not aimed specifically at families, its four outdoor pools, chilled vibes and relaxed evening entertainment make it a great option for adults and older teens.

The night finished with a bang at the Albufeira Strip — famous for its buzzing nightlife and vibrant party scene. If you're looking for fun that lasts until sunrise, this is the place to be.

Day 4: Farewell, For Now

With an early flight home, it was time to say goodbye to Portugal — but not before soaking in the final memories of a trip. I can definitely say this was such an incredible experience and can’t wait to hopefully get another experience like this in the future.
