In September I had the pleasure of being a part of an EasyJet Educational Trip to the beautiful Greek Island of Corfu. To give a bit of background info, a FAM trip is short for a ‘Familiarisation Trip’ - which is where a group of travel agents visit lots of different hotels to get an insight into what they offer, so we can sell these to our lovely customers!
Our trip started off at London Gatwick airport, the journey from the bag drop to the gate was stress-free and we experienced hardly any queues - yay! Of course we stopped off at the No1 Lounge for some snacks and a glass of champagne, or two…! Once we landed at Corfu airport we were through customs and the baggage reclaim within 45 minutes and we were then on our way to our first hotel in the quiet resort area of Perama, which is just a 30-minute transfer from the airport.
Our first night was spent in the beautiful Aeolos Beach Hotel. The hotel is set on the hillside and boasts incredible views over the Ionian Sea. The beach is just a few steps away from the hotel and here you will find a beach bar along with the beach restaurant which acts as both a buffet and a la carte, and once a week there is a lively beach party to enjoy too! The hotel has great entertainment through the summer and adults can enjoy the spa & sauna whilst little ones are trying out the activities at the kid's club. If you want to reach Corfu Town it is just a 20-minute taxi ride which I would highly recommend!
Our 2nd day started off bright and early as we had a day of hotel visits ahead! We set off on a very short taxi to the peaceful Benitses area and found ourselves at the Luxury 5* Angsana Corfu. This hotel has the immediate wow factor from the moment you step inside. You will be spoilt for choice here, as the hotel is home to 4 restaurants and 7 bars, and even has Michelin Star chef’s in the a la carte restaurants. The infinity pool is incredible, with plenty of sunbeds and parasols to go around you won’t need to wake up early at this hotel! Not to mention the breathtaking views of the sea and Benitses Fishing Village, as well as the private beach that can be reached via a shuttle transfer. With Sea View rooms and Private Pool suites that accommodate 3 and 2-bedroom Villas that sleep up to 5, this is a great resort for both couples and families.
After checking out this peaceful luxury resort, we then made our way south to the Messonghi Beach Hotel, which is an amazing family resort. The hotel is all-inclusive as a standard, so all those ice creams and cocktails are covered! There is plenty for the kiddies, such as the on-site splash park with slides and the kid’s club too, so parents can catch some sun at the beach right in front of the hotel. Location-wise, the hotel is only a 5-minute walk from some shops, bars & restaurants. For the facilities on offer, this hotel is priced incredibly well, June prices are starting under £500pp for a week based on a family of 4! After a busy morning, we then made our way to the 5* Olivar Suites in the Messonghi area where we enjoyed a selection of seafood, salads & much more. The hotel has a really sophisticated style and is very modern in design, it would make a perfect couple’s getaway. After Lunch, we moved on to the livelier area of Corfu - Kavos! We visited the Morfeas hotel, which is in a prime location for the strip. The rooms were clean and spacious and the pool area had a great atmosphere.
After our visit to the Kavos area, we went on to visit the incredible MarBella Corfu. Again this property is a luxury 5* resort that accommodates couples and families thanks to the new on-site Aquapark! The resort is set on the hillside and being just a 5-minute walk from the beach, the views of the blue water are breathtaking. Home to 6 restaurants and bars, you will be spoilt for choice at the Marbella, and the all-inclusive plus package allows you to dine in the a la carte restaurants and enjoy little extras such as spa credit and excursions. Another facility at this hotel is that they offer Weddings. There is a small chapel available for an intimate ceremony so you can combine your Wedding and Honeymoon in one!
Our 3rd Night was spent at the 5* Dreams Corfu in the Gouvia area. The hotel is in a prime location - situated in the resort center and on the seafront, as well as being just 30 minutes from the airport. This hotel has great amenities, such as the 8 bars & 5 restaurants as well as 2 outdoor pools and extensive entertainment choices. Plus, all the a la carte restaurants on offer are included in your package! From here you can also take a day trip over to Albania as it is only a 30-minute boat journey! You'll have plenty of room choices, from Sea View Bungalows to Swim-up Rooms, you are guaranteed a luxury escape at this AMR Resort. Getting around the resort couldn't be easier, you can take a stroll around or jump on one of the buggies which are always close by!
Once again we started the day bright and early, this time we headed to the popular resort of Sidari. Here we visited the Hotel Mimosa, a 3* small & friendly resort. It is located in the resort center and right by the beach, so I would recommend taking advantage of the great prices this hotel offers and using it as a base to explore the area. We then traveled to the North coast to the town of Acharavi to experience one of the Grecotel hotels - Costa Botanica. This chain of resorts is well known for its 4/5* accommodations in great locations, and this one did not disappoint. Situated on a blue flag beach and close to shops & restaurants, it is a great option for all ages due to the on-site waterpark and adults-only pool.
Our final hotel visit led us to the Mareblue Beach Resort in Aghios Spyridon. The resort is set in a peaceful location, but you can easily reach the beach and resort center with a short walk. Once again, this hotel is great for both couples and families thanks to all the facilities available and it also offers great value for money as the hotel is all-inclusive as a standard. The rooms are set out in blocks, so no high-rise buildings here, and there is plenty of space around the resort to explore! All in all this hotel has some amazing amenities and will not disappoint. For our final night, we ventured back to the resort of Gouvia to Cook's Club Corfu. Again Cook's Club is a well-known resort chain, best known for its lively atmosphere thanks to poolside DJs and boho-inspired decor. Both restaurants at the hotel are a la carte, so it is a great option for 'foodies'. If you are looking for a bit of luxury with lots going on, this one is for you.
After a jam-packed 4 days, it was time to head home. We grabbed some breakfast in the morning and hopped on our transfer back to the airport. The journey back was seamless and stress-free, just what you need at the end of a busy week! It was amazing to experience the incredible portfolio of hotels Easyjet offer, and with a deposit of just £60 per person and flying from over 15 airports in the UK you are guaranteed to find your next getaway.
